My Hill Billy Sun from slide tray

Okay this really makes me laugh. I wanted something different with this face. It looked more primitive. I used two wooden scrolly pieces that I painted bright orange for the hair. I does not quite look finished to me yet. It needs something else but I am not sure what. I call it my Hill Billy Sun for now. This is the fourth sun I have made.

Another quick paper doll

With this one I just used a page from an old art and science book and started cutting. I backed it with heavy black paper and through it together. It makes me laugh.

Pilgrim Art Doll water color

This was a quick pilgrim that I did quickly on watercolor paper. It fit together fairly well although I did not really go to great lengths to make sure it did. But I was baby sitting my grandchildren and just sat and quickly made it.

The Masterpiece - A child's Last request.

My Precious Little Son, David passed away in 1977.   I have never forgotten his smile, his warmth, his love. The  early morning of the day that he drowned, he left his family some special art work. I cut it from the wall and saved it.
I will always miss him.
This is the poem I wrote for him.

"THE MASTERPIECE"
by Mary Flower

No other piece of artwork in the entire world can compare
To that of my sweet son.
He is not a Rembrandt or a Leonardo De Vinci.
But his artwork is so much greater to me.
For one summer morning,
I think he knew that God would call him home
to a place where he was needed more,
To leave his mother's and father's arms empty and aching.
And leave his brother and sister to play without him.
So on an unfinished bathroom wall,
And with a few crayons,
He scribbled out his heart as if to say:
"I love you, Remember me Please"

2nd Sunshine - Mixed Media

This is the 2nd Slide Tray I have altered. This one is called: You are my Sunshine, My only Sunshine. Her face is a little more feminine. Hand Sculpted face. I am thinking that I may put LED lights behind these. They are pretty lit up.

Silly Sunshine Lady - "Let the Sunshine In"

i love to create from Junk. I got about 20 old Slide Trays from the Surplus on a pallet with tons of other junk. I took the metal back off and the ring around the inside middle and sprayed them sunshiney colors. I hand sculpted the face and painted it. The rays are made from mixed media and cardboard that I covered with gel medium. I used old jewelry for the hat. I love the feather. It makes it more ridiculous. On the side of the tray it reads: "Let the Sunshine In". I think I will make more with funny hats and necklaces. If you want one of these, email me or watch on ebay in the next few weeks. I have 9 to go right now. This took about 10 hours to make.

Mixed Media on Canvas- my grandson Nate

My grown children and their spouses are requesting more and more art from me. This is a fairly large mixed media on canvas of my oldest grandson. The ice cream cone sort of pops out at you. I put layer after layer of thick off white paint to make is stand out so nicely. This is about 24 or more inches H. A couple of years ago, I made his sister and so this year I made Mixed Media Canvas of her other two children. So now she has one of each of her three children. I have 11 grandchildren and I will do them all but it will take time. These take about 10 to 20 hours a piece to make but they are SO SO enjoyable to make.

Mixed Media on Canvas - My son Kelly

This is my son, Kelly. I love his adorable face. He is grown up and has a big family of his own but I wanted to do some art of my children when they were young. I found some wonderful old school work in my old files that I used to put on this. I also had an old painted hand print of his clear back in 1986. They grow up so fast and they are never children again. So love them while they are little.

Four Fairy Dresses- Five inches tall

My Cousin ordered some fairy dresses from me. I have made them much smaller. I usually make them about 3 inches tall but she thought that 5 inches would be nice for her Christmas tree. The hangers are made from some old rusty metal pieces with loops at both ends that I just fixed together. They were metal ties that were originally for sand bags. I have hundreds of them and love them for this project. I will be making more of these to sell on ebay asap.

Canvas Art -Mixed Media - Me and my honey.

I did this one for my honey. He got tears in his eyes when I gave it to him. We did not even know each other at this age but I took a pic of each of us from the same year. We were married in 1995. I like this one so much and so does my sweetie.

Canvas Art - my girls mixed media

I have been having so much fun this year. I have been sick for a while and could not do much but then I came back with a new determination to do more canvas work in mixed media style. These are my daughters who are now grown and married. They are so dear. This is about 14" H.  I will be posting several that I have done since I started feeling better. It is nice to know why I have been in so much pain and now it is gone. So wonderful.
