Perfume Challenge ATCs........

Well, This was
WAY WAY too much
fun.
Thank you, NINA T.
for your amazing
collage sheets.
I told her that the
ART Spirit came to
me and I just could not
stop!! I worked on these
ATCs ALL day!!!!!!
I had a blast
I had three bottle stamps
but I only used two of them
Nina's pictures are just
beautiful and I could not
stop myself. I even sprayed
a little perfume on some
of them and made the envelope
really pretty.
Ever since my grandma count
jumped from 7 to 11, I have
been visited by the ART
Spirit constantly. ( I made that
up about the ART spirit)

starting two art scrolls on canvas............

First I cut out a long strip of canvas. I cut two actually. One is about 5 inches wide and the other is about 7 inches wide and I think they are over a yard long. I layed them on my work table (above) and painted them some yummy colors. The wide one is a nice bluish color with violet and a baby-poop yellowish-orange on the other side. (not a yummy sounding color) BUT....The colors work well together.

I started painting faces with different colors of hair and made the hair and if there was a gust of wind. I am still in this stage and as I layer it more, I will update you with photos.

The scrolls are a heavy cardboard with paper mache ends. I layered pieces of paper over the paper mache for my first layer.
The tall scroll is rolled up. It is dried thoroughly and will wait patiently for my imagination to kick in. I think that I am leaning toward a sea/ocean/beach theme for it.
Enjoying making it. I take it out daily, giving it time to dry while I am thinking through the next layer.

Altered book Pages with faded photographs.....ME

I liked making these two altered book pages. The images are bad and yet I like them. You can still make out my face to some degree. I remember exactly where I was when this picture was taken. I was standing on the steps of an old house that we lived in on Green Street. I liked my hair and my two younger twin sisters were posing in the picture with me. I felt pretty.
In the picture below, with the cateye glasses, I was in the woods camping with my family. I did not really like camping because I did not like to get dirty. But I do remember how I loved my cateye glasses. I look sort of odd but it is still an interesting photograph.

More More More ATCs

Some of these may possibly
be a repeat but I am sure you
won't mind. I love to see eye
candy over and over. I used
paste on the top two. It is hard
to see the glossy texture. I like it

MOTHER NATURE AND THE FOUR SEASONS ATCs

Wanted to make four fairies called the FOUR SEASONS and it was only appropriate that I put them in MOTHER NATURE boxes. These are ATC art Doll fairies. Their little arms and legs swing out but you can fold them so they will fit the 3.5 x 2.5 size collector's plastic sleeves. They were very fun to make. The collage sheet is on my website.

Anyway, can not stop!! I have made about 50 ATCs this week. That is alot even for me.

More ATCs........Pretty Colors.........

Having more fun with warm colors. I really like teapots and the other is like a whimsy doily. Using my own hand painted papers and experimenting with textures too.

My Muse is Back!! I make it happy..........ATCs

Having so much fun just doing creative play. I used some of my hand painted, coral colored paper. I ran it through the cuttlebug machine and embossed the numbers on them, then I used a bronz stamp to color it to match the little bronz items. Just wanted to have some fun with playing for a while.

Cover - Start of a New Art Journal- "the Sea"

This was a layered experiment of art on a white baker's paper. Many layers of paint, chalk, pencil, ink, other papers and stamping.
I liked the way it turned out so I cut it to fit one of my Art Journals that I had started. Now keep in mind that I am not capable of working in only one art journal at a time. I have to vassilate between 5 to 10 at a time along with a multitude of other art projects. Other artists will relate to me on this. It inspires me more to do that. Sometimes I will be bored with one project, so I will leave it alone for a while and later (sometimes even years later) will see that project from a new perspective and make it better than had I finished it without any enthusiasm.
I bought this book about 5 years ago, left it on the shelf and now it has gotten a new face lift. It had only a few entries and now it has much more.
My oldest daughter asked me to will all the art journals to her. She will laugh when she looks closer at the dates entered on the pages.........they are SOOO random.

Old Ad ATC Art Doll...................

This was a very fun ATC Art Doll to make. I have an old book about antiques. The pages are clear pictures in black and white which made it more exciting to color. This was an advertisement about a drink. I used one of my own painted papers for the main section and hand colored portions of the ad for the rest.

"A Cowboy's Hat" --- ATC ART DOLL

I made this funny ATC art Doll from a counter top sample. I punched holes for the arms and legs with my wonderful BIG BITE. The head is an old cowboy. I wanted him to be a red neck so I used a piece of silk ribbon. The arms are made with a braided leather strap and a gnarly bead for the hand. I used legs from a cowboy pic. I love my old due date library pockets that I pulled from old discarded library books.
It reads:
"Every Hat holds a story and the experiences of the owner show through with little explanation"

I had a tiny little lizard that I added.
The ATC will fold up and can rest inside the pocket.

Alice In Wonderland

This is Alice's Wonderland.
Alice has moving arms. You can see an enchanted forest with the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat and Rabbit. The middle section is about 5 or 6 inches high and you can make this with the collage sheets from my website at:

the pic does not show all the wonderful detail but the colors are nice.

Faerie Canning Season-Captured Faeries- larger Pic

A larger picture to see the Faeries.

Faerie Canning Season-Captured Faeries.

This was made for a "Chartreuse Challenge" I used the sizzix Jar die and cut five jars from hand painted paper. I put chipboard in the middle and writing on the backs. The jars are about five inches tall. There are six captured fairies in the jars.
It reads: " The faeries were now well aware that Faerie-Canning Season had begun, but they knew they would be well taken care of in exchange for their light during the long winter months. The old woman also wrote down their names so that they would never be captured twice."

Art Journaling Sewing Faeries

To the left on this page is a quick self portrait of myself. I was at a girl's camp and used a little hand mirror. This was about seven years ago and I thought I looked old then. Today, I am afraid to pass the mirror.
I wanted to make some sewing fairies. There are three fairies. Two are hidden in the Sewing-needle packet.

Open the needle packet and you see two
little sewing fairies, each with a little wand that is a star on a sewing needle. Their dresses are made from a pattern piece and the fairies are cut from the front of vintage pattern envelopes.

HEAVENLY CHORUS Art Journal - Altered book

I love the cover and I am about half way finished with this Altered Book. I found an old hymnal, I removed about half of the pages and glued groups of 3 pages together, sprayed the pages with spray Gesso, then chalked many of the pages.
I used sand paper on the cover but the cover was already sort of beat up and falling apart. I added some Gorilla Duct tape, cut out a section in the front, painted it some vibrant yellows and oranges, added some clear glitter, added the letters a. r. t. and then wired an adorable wooden angel with metal wings and halo. I covered the entire front with a clear coat of pearly translucent acrylic liquid. I love how it turned out. It probably my favorite altered book so far. I will be posting some of the pages. Book measures about 3" X 5". The liquid acrylic is keeping the cover from more peeling because of it's age. The book is probably about 100 years old or more.

Heavenly Art Journal 5

Here are some pages from my HEAVENLY art journal that I altered from an antique hymnal. This is Emily. Pages were glued together and then I sprayed a coat of Gesso. I then added chalk and photos that I scanned. The photos were converted to a black and white photo copy mode. I then colored the pages by hand with more chalks. Pages are sprayed with a coat of clear acrylic
