Making a Santos Cage doll......my version.

I love Santos Cage dolls. If I were rich......this would be my collection. BUT I am not SO I will make my own.
I also love yard sales. I find a lot of crazy stuff and buy stuff that often others do not give a second look to. I see things they don't......through the eyes of a mixed media artist that loves to alter.
Last summer I found these old Japanese type lanterns. I pulled the centers out and I discovered these strange and wonderful wire "things" that had a wood base."Ah hah!"   the bottoms of my strange and wonderful Santos Cage Dolls.

I plan to make 7 of these

Her arms move with brads.

I made a funny little wire bird cage and added three pretty red birds. I kind of like the purple and red colors together. I added a little bit of red fringe. I am not sure what her name is yet

Kids' art makes me happy. 

I even found small spaces for small art

but I want some 3-d stuff in some places. I think I can

More Mixed Media on Canvas...........

My grandsons like working on  projects at Home Depot.  They love to make stuff there.  It reads "the only difference between men and boys is the price of the toys" and I found some small power tools to place just above the words.

FILL UP THE HOUSE WITH ART!

My second oldest son said to me a couple of years ago, "Mom, all your rooms are art rooms". All my children know how much I like art and although he said it to humor me, I have thought about that a lot since then. So I decided to actually take him up on that and literally make all my rooms art rooms. Spring cleaning is almost done and I thought how fun it would be to display my kids' art from their school years or beyond and all the art of my grandchildren in old windows. It is like windows of an old school building with the classroom kids' art projects. I love the way it feels. I had already used one old large window to display my ATCs on wires but this is a piece of art in each section.

.....And i have only just begun. I will update as I go along.

My December Family Party was fun but it left the house a wreck. Last week I got very ambitious and deep cleaned the entire house. I took all of the pictures off of the walls and decided to replace them with my own art, my children's art and the art of my precious grandchildren. Here is an adorable water color mermaid made by a 5 year old grandson. I love it.

Ok I have to admit to the lines for a simple eye from me and I did add some green glitter but I just could not help myself and I have never added to their art until this one. Shame on me? I think not. It was not enough change to stick in your eye. LOL

A PLACE FOR ALL MY ART JOURNALS.- ALL B'ZILLION OF THEM

IF YOU LOVE ART JOURNALING, YOU CAN RELATE TO THIS. I HAVE A B'ZILLION!!...AND  I WANTED ONE PLACE TO PUT THEM ALL TOGETHER. I ART JOURNAL ALMOST EVERY DAY.
 SOME ARE COMPLETELY FINISHED, SOME ARE JUST STARTED,  SOME ARE HALF FINISHED AND SOME ARE IN THE THINKING STAGE,    BUT RARELY IS ONE FINISHED  FROM BEGINNING TO END STARTING WITH THE FIRST PAGE AND MOVING ON TO THE BACK OF THE JOURNAL.  I PREFER TO START IN THE MIDDLE SOMEWHERE!    EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE, MY LEFT BRAIN KICKS IN WITH ART JOURNALING. (MY LEFT BRAIN IS  FINE WITH HOUSE WORK AND ORGANIZING LUCKILY)
 MOSTLY,  I LIKE TO JUMP FROM BOOK TO BOOK UNTIL ALL IS FINISHED.

My Second oldest Son and his lovely wife have five sons and they LOVE art and I LOVE to get their art. I posted last years Canvas and this is what they made me this year. They used their hands to make owls and last year they used their feet. What talented Grandchildren I have!!!

More Canvases.

Two more Canvases of two of my Grand children. These are brother and sister to the new grand daughter.  After laying background on the top Picture (both measuring 12" x 12" ) I used some wonderfully colored puzzle pieces.

 Haylie wrote the things that I used in her picture. She wrote the things she loves and likes. She is my little artist. She makes are almost every single day and she is improving. She is highly creative

MORE Canvas Mixed Media- my favorite subject-My Grand Children

Last Year I made Canvases of the Brother and Sister of Liora. My very first Canvas was actually of Liora when she was five but it was very different from the canvases I made last year and this one is larger with her older to match the others.

LOTS and LOTS of art projects for my Family Party in December.

This Year was SO busy from the end of October to the end of December when I had my Family party. I have made so many things but was unable to post them here because most of the projects were the gifts to my family. I have waited until all the gifts were given before I posted. I did not want to give away the surprises.  I also got a new Grand daughter!! She is my son's first biological baby but you would never know it by the way he has loved his other three children. They love him as Daddy and I could not be prouder of my son. This last little grand daughter is like a miracle baby because of all the complications his wife had.  During her pregnancy we made a fairy tree together (the three of us) with a little lantern with Tinkerbell trying to get through the key hole. The room was changed to a Peter Pan theme and it was beautifully done. This is my son, sitting in the rocking chair under the lighted fairy tree.
